Skull & Crown Trading Co.

Honolulu, HAWAII

A few miles from the glistening condos and resorts of Waikiki on the Island of Oahu, the historic Chinatown District blends Old Honolulu with the city's newer culinary excellence and diversity. Many of the shops and restaurants repurpose buildings from the area's commercial heyday. And it's in the 1901-built Mendonca Block Building, that you'll find "Skull & Crown Trading Co.," identified by hand-painted window lettering,

The decor is eclectic to borderline creepy, but fits with the shipwrecked Tiki theme. The bar is a set meticulously curated by owners Noa Laporga and Angelina Khan who perfected their stagecraft with seasonal pop-ups Haunted Planation and Ghost Bar, as well as experiences running an escape room and special effects company.

Surrounding you are shrunken heads in jars, brass pineapple lamps, tiki masks, and skulls... lots of skulls. Including many containing Skull & Crown Trading Co.'s themed, tropical cocktails. The signature Skull & Crown is delivered to you in a ceramic, scalped, skull set aflame. It serves two (or one if very ambitious and not driving) and blends Plantation OFTD, Kuleana Nanea, El Dorado 8, Velvet Falernum, Lime, Grapefruit, Cinnamon, Grenadine, Absinthe. For those tracking... that's three rums and a sugar liqueur to enjoy.
